I just had to re-blog this from the very perceptive and funny Mr. Library Dude. These hysterically stereotypical Lego Librarians are great. I think I need one!

I really am the luckiest girl – I have some amazing patrons! One of my favorite families brought me this beautiful necklace from their recent trip to Hawaii. I found it waiting for me on my desk when I came back to work on Monday. It’s a silver flower – the kind they use when making leis. Who thinks about getting their librarian a gift while on vacation? In HAWAII?! So very touched and honored 🙂
Happy Friday!Cheers, Miss Molly*
So apparently my last post was in April. Blerg. I guess between working on my house, my direct sales job, and my REAL job at the library, I just keep forgetting. Sorry.
I just returned from a week on Martha’s Vineyard which was relaxing, though quite hot. I am tan, but only in the sense that I look more like a normal human being than usual. I wasn’t thrilled about going back to work on Monday (yesterday) but I thought that maybe a week off would have given me a better perspective on things and straightened out my brain a bit.
I was wrong. Then, today, I was even more wrong. Summer Reading program confusion. (my fault.) Scheduling conflicts. (my fault.) No staff. (not my fault, but may as well be.) Double blerg.
However, Monday did have it’s perks: I drove a lovely elderly woman to her house because she locked her keys in her car in the library parking lot. I now have a free pass to swim at her house on the lake on my lunch break any time I want. 😉
Also, our amazing MOMs club in town gave me a check for $500 to spend for the children’s room! They are awesome. 🙂
Looking forward to a better day tomorrow. Perhaps I will do that eye-bombing thing and stick googly eyes on things in the library. That might be fun.
This little girl read the book beforehand and was SO excited to meet Toto! She brought him some food to donate to the local pet shelter.
For those of you who are not familiar with the story, Toto was found in a tree as a newborn kitten after surviving a tornado that swept through Western MA about 2 years ago. A paramedic and his wife found the kitten and saved him. They wrote a book and do story time programs around MA to raise money for local pet shelters. All proceeds from book sales are donated.
Borrowed, yet again, from Pinterest and other libraries, this is my version of “Blind Date with a Book.”
I used YA books and wrapped them in pretty paper. I printed out blurbs on each book from Goodreads and put them on the front – careful to erase anything about the title, author & character names. I realized after that I had to have the barcode avilable – it wouldn’t be much fun to unwrap the book at the circ desk to scan the barcode. I probably could have done this a better way, but I felt through the paper for the barcode and used an exacto knife to cut around it. This took a little while….to say the least. Then I looked up some lame pick-up lines. That was pretty fun.
I think only one person has checked out one of these so far – and only because I told her to 🙂 Oh well, it looks kinda cool, anyways. Below is my flyer and some pics of the books on display.
